Duffy is a remarkable app that offers convenient access to your step count directly on your Apple Watch face as a complication.

As an experienced iOS developer, it surprised me that Apple Watches did not come with a steps complication pre-installed. Motivated by this gap, I dedicated my spare time to developing one for myself. The prototype version impressed me so much that I believed many others would appreciate it too. Hence, I went the extra mile and made it available to everyone on the App Store. Duffy is not only completely free of charge but also devoid of any advertisements. Moreover, it is an open-source project, enabling fellow developers to contribute to its enhancement.

Despite its simplicity, Duffy has the potential to become the most frequently utilized app on your Apple Watch. Say goodbye to the hassle of opening the Activity app and navigating through menus to find your step count; it is now just a quick glance away.

However, Duffy transcends being merely an elegant Apple Watch complication. You can utilize the full watch app to effortlessly check your steps, flights climbed, and distance traveled for both today and the past week. Additionally, you have the option to set a daily steps goal and receive notifications on your watch when you achieve it. The companion iPhone app offers the same accessibility with an even more user-friendly interface on a larger screen. It also permits you to delve deeper into your data, exploring trends and statistics over time.

Duffy seamlessly integrates with the Health app on your iPhone and Apple Watch, extracting information such as steps, flights climbed, distance traveled, and activity energy by utilizing the HealthKit API.
